Don’t Let The New Year Begin With Hunger

Hunger is not just a problem during the holidays.

Hunger is a 365-day a year problem. Hunger is relentless. It affects 1 in 6 people in America. 49 million Americans struggle to put food on the table each night. While many communities rally their support in the weeks before Christmas and during the winter months, many young and elderly people are grateful for food supplies. Unfortunately, this support dwindles as we enter the new year, with more people focused on going back to work and saving money, forgetting about those who need help the most. When children don’t get the nutrition they need, their physical development can suffer. As of right now, more than 1 in 5 children are at risk of hunger with no means for a meal. Unfortunately, over 40 percent of all foods are discarded in the U.S. each year. All of this uneaten food could feed 25 million Americans. Luckily, the much-needed change is in your hands! Together, we can feed children, families, and seniors who struggle for food in the Conejo Valley and Thousand Oaks area in California. Learn more from the Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank.
