All American Burger
Simply made and truly American!
Yields: 4 burgers
Ingredients
1# Ground Beef (80/20), cold
8 slices American Cheese
1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
4 Burger Buns (I like Potato or Brioche, but any fresh bun is AWESOME!) *Buttered and toasted optional
Garnish
(Choose your favorite)Ketchup
Thousand Isle Dressing (My favorite)
Sliced Red Onion
Sliced Beefsteak or Roma Tomato (Season with salt and pepper)
Sliced Pickles
Fresh Lettuce Leaves (I like Butter or Red/Green Leaf Lettuce)
Directions
Mix your ground beef with the seasoning and place back in the fridge for 20-30 minutes. (Do not overmix the burger or it will become tough when it’s cooked.)
To form your patties, break up the meat into four balls. Press each ball into a patty, thin enough to cook evenly but not so thin it will break apart. Then, poke your thumb into the center of each patty. This will help the burger cook evenly and not get too big in the middle while cooking. Lightly oil each patty so they wont stick to the grill (If you’re grilling them.). Season each burger on both sides with salt and pepper.
Cook the meat to your preferred temperature. (I like to cook each burger 75% on the first side in order to create a nice crust. When you flip your burger over, add two pieces of cheese to each burger. This allows to cheese to melt down and around the burger. (Yummy!!)
Pull the meat off the grill and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes. *This is an important step as it allows the juices in the meat relax. This keeps your burger juicier. I like to butter my buns and lightly toast them but, this is optional.
Add your favorite toppings and dig in!!
