Here’s a sobering bit of information that most of us either aren’t aware of or we turn a blind eye towards this bit of information; in our country 1 in every 6 people face problems each and every day when it comes to hunger.
But in the Conejo Valley in Southern California, there are people who care about these people who find themselves in unfortunate circumstances through no fault of their own.
Manna is a food bank in the Conejo Valley and their only mission is helping other people, and making sure that they never have to go hungry.
Recently Manna along with several other local non-profit charities, received an award from Montecito Bank & Trust because of their humanitarian efforts helping those in the community who find themselves in need of assistance.
The Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank has been helping people in their community since 1971, and they are a unique non-profit because they receive no federal funding nor are they affiliated with any local religious groups.
Manna feeds about 1,650 people each month at their 700 square foot house. Their facilities are in the Thousand Oaks area, and when you include their holiday distributions to more than 21,000 people throughout the corridors of Calabasas Grade and Conejo Grade, it’s just an amazing amount of work that the volunteers that work at Manna are able to do.
