CROP Hunger Walk 2015
Are you looking for something to do this weekend with the whole family? Then come out and enjoy all the fun and excitement at the Conejo Valley CROP Hunger Walk. The CROP Walk 2015 starts at 1 p.m. on March 1
st at the Lundring Event Center at California Lutheran University.
CROP Hunger Walks were started in 1969, and are widely viewed as the “granddaddy of charity walks.” The first walk was on October 17, 1969 in Bismarck, North Dakota, which helped to raise $25,000 to help stop hunger in the area. Currently, there are over 2,000 communities across the country, which hold over 1,3000 CROP Hunger Walks each year. In the last 20 years, over five million CROP Hunger Walkers have participated in over 36,000 CROP Hunger Walks.
CROP Hunger Walk helps to support the overall ministry of Church World Service, specifically hunger-fighting, grassroots development efforts around the world. Each local CROP Hunger Walk can choose to return up to 25 percent of the funds that are raised at the walks into its own community. Each year MANNA receives financial support from the local Conejo Valley CROP Hunger Walk.
For more information on how you can get involved in the Conejo Valley community to help give back to those in need,
contact Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank in Thousand Oaks, California. Founded in 1971, we provide food assistance to over 1,400 people each month. Since we are not formally affiliated with any religious organization, we do not receive any Federal funding, which means all of our support comes from private donations.
