Summer is usually the slowest time for food banks. Summer is also the time when more people depend on food banks, since kids are out of school and are eating more meals at home. The best way to help the Manna Food Bank this summer is to hold a food drive to help stock our pantry.
There are plenty of simple ways to organize a food drive. Follow these steps to start your summer food drive today.
- Decide how you want to collect food. Decide if you want to have a single-site drop off, extended food drive with numerous collections points, or if you want to hold your food drive during an event.
- Find a drop off location. Find a specific location and be sure to get permission if you pick a location that is on private property.
- Recruit volunteers. Ask your family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors to help with the food drive.
- Advertise! Put up flyers and use social media to advertise your food drive to ensure the whole community knows about it.
