We have recently received three very generous grants from local organizations in support of our pantry. The City of Thousand Oaks donated a grant of $7,934, Bank of America donated a grant of $2,000, and Baxter donated a grant of $3,000. We are so thankful for each of these companies for their generous donations, which will go towards helping those in need in the local community!
There are many individuals that continue to struggle to provide the basic necessities for their families. There are more than 46 million people throughout the country who live in poverty, with 20 percent of those being children under the age of 18. In our own backyard, an estimated 15,000 households struggle with food insecurity, leaving children to go to bed hungry. Many parents choose to forgo their own meals in order to give their children more food, while seniors are left with the choice of buying food or their needed medication.
Thousands of people in the Conejo Valley depend on the Manna Conejo Valley Food Pantry for their next meal. Our goal of helping individuals in the community is to help meet their immediate needs and for them to have access to wholesome food. This is essential to our community’s growth and success, which is why we are so proud to partner with these three organizations to help provide opportunities of progression for individuals and families in the area. These grants will help people in our community gain access to much needed services and programs that address immediate issues, such as hunger, while helping them prepare for a more financially stable future.
The investments that were made by Bank of America, Baxter, and The City of Thousand Oaks will help us to provide our community with important hunger relief and allow us to continue our vital work to help strengthen the Conejo Valley.
