Hunger Action Month: How will you take action?
September first marked national Hunger Action Month. Hunger affects all areas of the country, from bustling urban cities to quite farm communities, no one in immune. In fact, hunger impacts 48 million Americans, including 15 million children. Hunger Action Month is a call to alert more people to the strife many Americans are facing. It is a call to action. You may feel your small action can’t solve the huge issue of food insecurity, but you are wrong. Every action has a reaction, and we believe that if everyone does their small part to take action, we can eventually make big changes throughout our communities. What does action look like? Action is volunteering at your local food bank. Action is starting a food drive in your schools and clubs. Action is cleaning out your pantry, and instead of throwing the goods away, donating them. Action is meeting every person with respect regardless of if they are food insecure or struggling to pay their bills. Action is educating your friends and family about hunger. Action is speaking out and advocating for those who are struggling to provide food for themselves and their families.  Action is educating yourself by watching videos, reading the news, and engaging in stimulating conversation. This is Hunger Action Month. How will you take action?
