Manna Helps Offset Dwindling Food Budgets

In the year 2012, 49 million Americans lived in homes considered "food insecure" households. Of those, 33.1 million were adults and 15.9 million were children. In California, 15.6 percent of all households are "food insecure" households.

The USDA places the average cost for feeding a healthy diet to a family of four between $146 and $289 per week. Families in California often pay higher prices for healthy foods than those in other states.

The purpose of Manna is to help eliminate or reduce food budgets for families in need so that money is available to spend on transportation, rent, utilities, and other necessities. For some families that may mean an additional $600 per month free for other expenses. In other families, it may be substantially more for the family budget.

Unfortunately, the Manna food bank cannot operate without generous giving from people like you. It doesn't receive funding from the government and relies on generosity to help reduce the problem of hunger in Conejo Valley.

Do your part today to help reduce hunger in Thousand Oaks and beyond. Contact Manna today to learn how your generous donation can help feed so many people.
