While food donations are always a critical need at any hunger relief organization, there are always critical monetary needs as well. When our community unexpectedly fills those monetary needs, it only reinforces our belief that feeding hungry people in the Conejo Valley is a team effort.
The Darden Restaurant Foundation has announced that Manna is one of the grant recipients of their Restaurant Community Grants program. Now in its third year, this program is run by the charitable foundation of the Darden Group, which owns well-known restaurants such as The Olive Garden, Red Lobster, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, The Capital Grille, Eddie V’s and Yard House. The local branches of these restaurants designated grant money to the community programs of their choice.
The foundation chose Manna because it embodies the key principles of the program which are education, preservation of natural resources and hunger relief. Manna is honored to receive this grant and the recognition from our local restaurants and their corporate offices. This money will go a long way in allowing us to continue the mission of hunger relief in the Conejo Valley.
