Take a Bite Out of Hunger on September 5th
September 5, 2013 is Hunger Action Day, and it is the perfect time to get involved in your community and take action against hunger. Hunger Action Day falls on the first week of Hunger Action Month, an initiative that reaches out to individuals in an effort to educate them about the problem of hunger and help them figure out real and actionable things they can do to reduce the problems. Hunger is an extremely common problem throughout the nation and the world, and it can only be resolved with the help of the community. Throughout Hunger Action Month, many individuals will take it upon themselves to collect food for an extensive network of food banks, which will in turn distribute the food to the hungry. Those that wish to show their support on Hunger Action Day can wear orange and educate those around them about the month, what it means and what they can do. Individuals interested in participating can also volunteer at their local food bank and can raise donations for local food charities. For more information about Hunger Action Month and other events contact the Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank, established in 1971 to help the hungry.
