Manna FAQs

Can I still come to get food at Manna?

Yes.  Manna’s pantry days and hours will remain the same for the foreseeable future.  However, this policy may change depending on guidelines and recommendations by the CDC, Department of Health and/or the COVID-19 Task Force. Please check the website before you intend to come to Manna

If you are sick or have been in contact with someone who is sick, we ask that you do not visit the pantry for the health and safety of others. See below for information on how to receive food if you are not able to come to Manna on your own.

PANTRY DAYS & HOURS

  • Tuesday:  10am – 3pm
  • Thursday: 10am – 4pm
  • Saturday: 10am – 1pm

How is Manna creating a safe place for me to visit?

Manna began implementing the CDC and Department of Health virus prevention protocols earlier this month with increased janitorial procedures. We have asked everyone who works at Manna or visits Manna to take extensive measures to remain clean and safe.  Manna is also adhering to the “social distancing” recommendations and ask that clients do not congregate while waiting to go through the pantry.

Due to the prevention measures, clients may experience a “slow-down” in the pantry with longer than usual wait times. We ask that everyone exercise understanding and patience. Our primary goal is to serve those in need, while maintaining a healthy environment.

We will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and implement additional protocols as they are released.

Will Manna be prepared for an increase in need by the community?

Yes. Manna regularly stocks several months’ worth of food to stock the pantry.  We are continuing to take individual donations and we have also kept in regular contact with our retail partners and suppliers in an effort to keep food and supplies coming to Manna.

How do I know if the food is safe?

Manna has always provided families in need with healthy, nutritious foods by following the food safety guidelines set down by the USDA and Feeding America. We are monitoring both agencies for new recommendations. We will strive to meet or exceed the recommendations available to us at all times.

How does Manna prevent running out of food?

For decades Manna has worked closely with the community and retail partners to acquire the foods our clients need to stay well fed and healthy, and we are continuing to do so. We receive food donations every week, and at any given time we have several months’ worth of food in inventory.

How can I receive food if I’m a client that is quarantined or over 65 and self-isolating?

Manna has a “PROXY SYSTEM” in place to allow our clients to designate someone to pick up food on their behalf. This can be a family member, friend, caregiver, etc. If you wish to designate a proxy please contact the office, 805-497-4959, to be screened and to set-up your designated shopper. The proxy will need to provide their photo ID at check-in. This service is for our most vulnerable clients and should not be abused.  Please be sure that your designated shopper is being socially responsible before visiting Manna.

How can I help Manna during this time of need?

First and foremost, please DO NOT visit Manna if you are sick or have been exposed to the virus. We are diligently trying to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our staff and those who need our services most.

If you wish to donate food, please refer to the PRIORITY LIST on our website, www.mannaconejo.org.  We receive food donations Monday through Friday, 8am – 4pm.

If you wish to make a monetary donation please do so on our website, www.mannaconejo.org. For every $1 that is donated, Manna can provide 8 meals worth of wholesome nutritious food to a family struggling with hunger.
